Sputnik II

An engineering model of the second artificial Earth satellite and the first to carry a living creature, a small dog named Laika whose name means lucky.

Soviet Union Vostok

A flown unmanned Soviet Union Vostok or capsule. Yuri Gagarin, the first human in space, flew into space in the same type of capsule on April 12, 1961. The Vostok was completely circular and built for land impact, versus the American capsules which were designed for water impact.
